Forests provide about 75% of the world’s accessible fresh water supply. They protect against soil erosion and maintain natural habitats for countless different animal species. They also play a critical role in mitigating climate change and regulating the world’s oxygen supply.
Despite how crucial forests are for human life and the planet, approximately 37 million acres are lost each year to deforestation. Whether it’s due to natural causes like wildfires or hurricanes or man-made activities, the reality is that drastic damage is being done to one of our most precious natural resources.
Quik! decided to do something about this. Quik! already helps businesses eliminate paper, save trees, and become greener through forms automation. Quik! took it’s environmental values one step further by partnering with the Arbor Day Foundation to fight deforestation head-on.
Quik!’s environmental impact
Quik! has been working with the Arbor Day Foundation since 2018 and recently joined its latest initiative, Time for Trees, in early 2019. Quik! is committed to supporting the foundation’s goal to plant 100 million trees in forests and global communities by 2022. We planted 10,000 trees each year in 2018 and 2019, and recently reached our target of planting 10,000 trees in 2020!
Quik!’s efforts in collaboration with the Arbor Day Foundation resulted in 15 acres of longleaf and shortleaf pine trees being replanted in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest in Georgia. This area was deeply devastated by wildfires that burned through 167,000 acres in 2002. Although the destruction occurred years ago, the natural reserves have been struggling to recover as insects and diseases impede healthy growth. Quik!’s contribution will help speed up the area’s recovery and restore natural wildlife habitats as well as watersheds.
Over the next 40 years, the trees that Quik! and the Arbor Day Foundation replanted in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest this year will remove 103 tons of air pollution, intercept 284,350,000 gallons of rainfall, and capture 22,400 metric tons of net carbon dioxide. These enduring results will help contribute against global warming and climate change. But Quik! doesn’t plan on stopping there.
What the future holds
To date, Quik! has planted 30,000 trees and saved about 55,000 more through forms automation. And we don’t plan on slowing down anytime soon! We are committed to our current trajectory in the fight against climate change and deforestation. We will do our part to continue planting new trees each year. We’ve already set our sights on planting 10,000 trees in the Bladen Lakes State Forest in North Carolina in 2021. We’re also focused on helping other companies save trees by allowing them to switch from wasteful paper forms to more efficient, environmentally-friendly forms automation tools.
